Nick Mancini has been performing professionally since the age of 15. He earned his masters from Manhattan School of Music spending 10 years honing his craft in NYC before relocating to Los Angeles. He’s performed and recorded with Arturo Sandoval, Charles Fambrough, Harvey Mason, Marvin “Smitty” Smith, Peter Erskine, Poncho Sanchez, Kenny Werner, New York Voices and Jennifer Holliday to name a few. As a bandleader he’s released numerous recordings and played in top venues such as The Apollo Theater in NYC, Blue Whale in LA and many others abroad. He’s curated 5 seasons of his own concert series, “elastic hour” and is sponsored by Majestic Percussion (vibes) and Innovative Percussion (mallets). In 2008 he was named LA Vibes Summit Honoree and in the same year was invited to join the faculty at Cal State Northridge and Long Beach, and has taught private vibes lessons at The Monk Institute, in addition to maintaining his private teaching studio for nearly 2 decades. Naturally gifted in the art of socializing, some have gone so far as to say he is the Mayor of the LA jazz community.

– James E. Fowler, LA Times
“…the Nick Mancini Collective, led by an exploratory young vibraphonist with two toes dipped in tradition who splashes gentle swing, understatedly bent shoogabooga and exotic undersea layerings of filtered light. Original and good.”
– Greg Burk, LA Weekly
